Busy week - results and stories by the shedload, I’ll give a brief resume otherwise this message will drivel on ad infinitum.
Road - Joe and Elliot rode their first proper road race - ie on an actual road over a distance of 100km racing at speeds reportedly close to 45 km (really?) against the elite of the South East Espiores. That they held their own is a credit to the pair of them - Elliot finishing in the bunch and Joe having dropped his water bottle died in the last lap.
Meanwhile those young Titans Ed and Titouan have been battling it out between themselves- Ed narrowly beating Titouan achieving 3rd and 4th places respectively at Palace.
On the catwalk at Bletchley Mr Rees was modeling the new DP skinsuit- they must be awfully good because he belted around that beastly circuit faster than one of Mr Branson’s Scottish express trains, Will not so fast but still a respectable time considering the conditions….conclusion - buy a skinsuit and a TT bike.
Now on to the serious stuff - we’re in the midst of the MTB season, and Ed, Titouan are all riding exceptionally well, with Titouan gaining an impressive 6th at the Southern XC and equally cool, Ed pulled in a 2nd in a closely fought battle on a remarkably tricky little course at Stratford Velopark. Stan, recovering from his first year at Uni, started strong but alas ran out of water on the last lap - hopefully we’ll see more of him this summer.
I, along with Mark and Geoff rode the same in the Pipe and Slippers, if you’re asking, 6th - a reasonable result, thank you; I was very impressed with the trails there, we’ll be visiting it on Saturday later in the summer.
Saturday 28th May No organised Youth or Junior Rides this weekend
Anyone who is anyone is on the mountains of Afan this weekend, thus there will be no Youth or Junior led rides this weekend.
Juniors and Espoires are encouraged to either ride out to the Bletchley Time Trial ( check the Dulwich forum - several riders are riding out to it) or join one of the faster Dulwich Saturday Rides. Introduce yourself to the lead and they’ll look after you - please behave and remember they are old wiser and slower.
Remember if you are riding on the time trial or with one of the Dulwich Groups - normal pack drill applies
Helmets must be worn
BC HHYCC and/or DP Membership required
Bring spare inner tubes that fit your bike
Wear suitable clothing for the weather
Money for emergency buns
Food and water
The name and telephone number of an adult who can rescue you on a PIECE OF PAPER in your back pocket.
Parents and Guardians - please note these rides are not led by trained coaches, while I’m confident that other members will take of your child/youth/young adult it’s important that you are contactable and available to rescue your charge should the need arise.
Tuesday 31st May Crystal Palace Crits
Rd6 - I hear that gradually week by week those racing are beginning to achieve their goals - keep it up, it's harder and less forgiving race than all the other crits you'll ever race. It is important for Juniors and Seniors to note that entry in advance is strongly advised - however if the race is full turn up at sign on promptly at 6 pm, be nice and help that nice Mr Joss Buckley, you MAY get a place.
Youths are excused pre entering - turn up on evening with some money.

This is one of the best MTB races in the calendar - not only is it a well run event, its at Hadleigh - so will be tough, interesting as well as being good to race with the bonus as a Regional event it carries double BC Golden Points. Details at www.mudsweatgears.co.uk. NB entries close at midnight on Tuesday. Entry on the day is possible but it comes at a price.
