This just in... please be mindful of the horses and their riders, and help others on the RotFL to do the same....
The Bromley Bridleways Access Group have organised an event to take place on the 2nd October, which is the same date as your planned Autumn ride. After looking at your advertised route, I see that you are planning to use Leyhams Road in your short route.
Bromley Bridleways Access Group will be holding an organised horse ride in the area, and riders will be crossing Leyhams Road in small groups throughout the day. There will be a steward controlling traffic to facilitate this, but it is inevitable that your members will be held for very brief periods if they arrive at the crossing at the same time as horse riders.
Obviously, common sense will prevail, and no-one will be held up unnecessarily, but I'm sure you can appreciate that it is easier (and safer) to ask a cyclist to slow down/stop than it is to expect an excited group of horses to stand patiently at the side of the road. To this end, I am hoping that you can pre-warn your members before they set off, and hope that, with a little co-operation on both sides, we can all have a good day.
Regards Rita Johnson For and on behalf of Bromley Bridleways Access Group

Do we have more details on what time the horseriders will be on Layhams and which section and number of riders? 600 or so sportive riders, loads of horses plus the usual cars could lead to a Bromley Palio.

Reads as if they do not appreciate the scale of the ride and that not all riders belong to the club. Hopefully no issues....

We have been in regular communication with the organisers about this: they do understand the scale of the RotFL and that it won't be just DP riders. Their event is going on all day, but will be marshalled at the crossing point on Layhams Lane and we will inform everyone leaving the stadium on Sunday about it.
