Ok let's get that cleared first .... i -sometimes- do have a sneak peek at the DailyMail which does have an "article" on pedestrian crossing vs cyclist on today: www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3815343/You-stop-s-LAW-Angry-pedestrian-blocks-cyclist-gives-earful-tries-speed-zebra-crossing.htmlthe part i found v interesting being the follow: I somehow always thought that once a pedestrian was touching the crossing area we, cyclist, had to stop which doesn't seem to be entirely true. Obv. i can understand that pedestrians can be cross as many cyclists/commuters don't even bother slowing down while zigzagging ... but actually law isn't that strict as long as we observe care / consideration on what's happening in front of us!! good to know IMO

Wary as I am about taking my legal advice from the Daily Fail, they do seem to be correct here.
Rule 195 of the highway code:
And section 25 of The Zebra, Pelican and Puffin Pedestrian Crossings Regulations and General Directions 1997 (yes, that is actually a thing that it was somebody's job to write...) :
- section 25's 'precedence' to be compared with the 'prohibition' in sections 118, 20, 23 & 24 regarding other types of crossing.
That is not to say, however, that it isn't sensible to wait the additional 1-2 seconds anyway - looks good and means that we don't antagonize pedestrians.

I thought that made some interesting reading too (I didn't read the legal side I'm the Fail though in my defence!).
Personally my take is still that the biggest problem was that the cyclist I'm the video went charging through at speed and would have passed far too close for the speed he was going.
I'll continue to wait until pedestrians have cleared the crossing.

Pet hate. People on a bike using pedestrian crossing. Especially as they sometimes whizz across it giving you less time to stop.

The cyclist should have slowed down for sure but that pedestrian really put himself, the cyclist and possibly others in danger with his action...I bet he wouldn't have done it if it was a car or a motor bike instead of cyclist.
Recently I saw a pedestrian shoulder a cyclist coasting on the pavement in Clapham...the rider went down and knocked over a passerby...thankfully everyone was okay but could have been a lot worse!
Everyone (not just cyclists) need to be sensible and show respect out there!
