At last, after a huge amount of determined effort, Luke has triumphed, winning the Junior category with an impressive sub 5 min time up the ‘orrible Star Hill in the Dulwich Hill Climb. Good to see Marcus out - and good effort from him as well - must had a decent breakfast.
Meanwhile in the National Mud Stakes - Little Joe has been bringing the results, he’s ranked as 14th in national U14, with a 10th place in the CX nationals in Derbyshire and a win at East Kent last Sunday under his belt, in other words he’s damn fast. Well done Joe, deserved results.
This weekend - a bit of Cross fest at Herne Hill
Saturday morning
We will be running a skills session at Herne Hill, starting at 10 and running through to 1pm. Session is open to all and expect a number adults to be joining in . (Parents/Guardians - if you have ever wanted to join in but it’s never been quite the right time - this is the week - there will a number of ‘adult’ Dulwich riders joining us on Saturday)
Saturday afternoon
Advanced course setting will start at 2pm with a full briefing on pig sticking and taping the wright way followed by through course testing until you’re either bored or it’s dark.
Acceptable alternatives are participating in the Great Cross Bake Off - the brief ‘bake a cake for a keen CX rider’. Judges Mary Permentiers and Paul Argentwood will be looking for general deliciousness and distinct yammy factor. All entries will be sold on the refreshment stand on Sunday.
This year HHYCC are collecting money to buy and lay tonnes of road scalpings on the trails to improve their rideability in all weathers. As the well grocer is adapt to say ‘every little cake helps’ even if it's a complete disaster, it can always be used as trail dressing, my last effort at ‘light airy ginger cake’ is still there looking as solid as it ever did.
Sunday Rd 5 - London League - at Herne Hill
I cannot encourage you all enough to turn up at this one and just have a go - all races will be overwhelmed with friendly riders in light blue, we have bikes to lend and it’s not going to rain. www.londonxleague.co.uk/
Mid week Evening Training
Tuesday Evening - BC Cluster Sessions
Start at 6pm and run through to 7.30 pm, this is a very well planned progressive series of ROAD bike training sessions on the track. Open to any rider aged 12 and above who is racing or has aspirations to so. I cannot recommend these session highly enough - there is a totally proven correlation between attending these sessions regularly and improved riding skill, race results and overall fitness.
As these are British Cycling organised sessions you will need a parents consent form for the first session you attend (attached) and a fee - which I believe is £3 a time - take a fiver to be sure.
Wednesday Evening 26th Oct - Dulwich Paragon Chain Gangs on Track
This week the road chain gang will be an ‘intermediate’ session - open to Juniors and strong youth riders. Starts at 7pm and runs through till 9 pm.
Sunday 23rd October - Rd6 London league - back at Happy Valley Brighton
