Again the highlight of the Cross calendar is rapidly approaching - the Team Champs. A misnomer if there was, its billing as an easy going fun race to celebrate the end of the CX season belies the under current serious ruthlessness in the upper echelons of the game.
I digress, but this season really has capped lasts year's awesome performance, we have hosted possibly the most notable round of the league at Leeds Castle, not only in drop dead grade one historic location but also a damn fine technical course, loads of enthusiastic volunteers and a healthy dose of that can do Dulwich Spirit - got a one liner in the comic and considerable more in the Crawley and Horsham Gazette (quite why is mystery) , the racers and the comm, the latter 2 groups, are of the greater import, have been fair raving about it.
Our normal claim to fame is quantity of riders fielded, however this year (although the book is yet to be closed), we have added a certain quality to the deal, Dave Rees currently leads the senior ranking by a comfortable margin. I see no reason why Ed Davies should not finish the season in 3rd or 4th position in the Juniors, while Pollintine and myself are at seven's and nine's in the Old Farts. Stu Lynn, the 2 Matts accompanied by the 2 James with Luke have all added to the mix and Dulwich have yet again fielded the largest women's team of all club's in the South East.
So loads to crow about - well done the lot of you but enough said, back to the team champs.
The teams champs are run by Doug Fox - who knows how to put on a decent course- so first base covered, the Lord Almighty up on High normally ensures typical CX suitable weather, so 2nd base covered in mud, all we have to do to is provide some teams ( and cake)
These people have represented the club this year - paid their dues and will be warmly welcomed into any team, as will anyone else:
Aaron Haines
Alex Ioannides
Alex Robbins
Andy Pollintine
Ben De Groot
Beth Hodge
Charlie Codrington
Chris Bedson
Cubaidh Davey
Dalila Lecky
David Rees
Dylan Bexley
Eddie Davies
Emma Fudge
Jacintha Hamilton-Love
James Corlett
James Malone
Joe Booth
Jonathan Maher
Libby Gordon
Luke Levett
Mark Hindley
Mary Montgomery
Matt Sumpton
Max Lawson
Olivia Campbell
Rebecca Williams
Rob Coniglio
Rob Drake
Robert Whitworth
Serge Bouschet
Stanley Nutter
Stuart Lynn
Zachary Bredemear
On the basis that you all 35 of keen eager and have religiously kept the day free I can expect to be entering 9 teams. Excuses need to be exemplary!
