A bit of a long shot, I know, but does anyone have or know someone with a lightweight titanium Brompton they're looking to sell?
I've decided a Brompton is probably the only practical way to accommodate another bike in my life, but I have no upper body strength so would struggle with a steel frame.
Let me know if you hear of anything. Cheers Jo

Wise choice! They're brilliant things.
I would say that the differnce between the Ti and steel frames is v small weight wise - I think about 750g.
If you want a light Brompton, you really need to think about the accessories on it. It's the rack, mudguards, dynamo and standard seat that make them heavier. Putting all that on a Steel or Ti bike will be heavy.
Practically, once you've mastered the fold, you don't really need to carry it much at all.
I think the only real reason to buy the Ti is that it looks bling!

ps and you can buy an aftermarket Ti seat that's 200g lighter than standard, same for the brakes etc.
However, for blinging up brompton @davidrees is the man to ask. If I remember correctly he one running Dura-Ace at one point.

They're all heavy and a bit awkward to carry! Maybe easier with broader shoulders and muscles? Ti Brompton pushes the price up even higher - you need cycle to work scheme - and it's only the forks that are Ti I think. They hold value quite well hence BBC ex colleague getting a new one each year with cycle scheme and selling old one to save servicing....

Thank you David and Sara; they're really helpful comments about the weight difference. Titanium is now looking less likely given the massive jump in price, when cutting down on weight elsewhere sounds like a much more sensible alternative.
So, if anyone knows of someone selling a steel Brompton, let me know!
Thanks again,
Jo

depending on spec and condition, they normally go for 600-800 on ebay, so a shop ex-demo might be a better option. I can recommend the 6 speed models
