Most will be aware of Javi's horrific collision last June at the Coney Hall roundabout. Since then he was making good progress and aiming for a return to cycling in the early part of 2018. This is the thread for those not acquainted with his accident: dulwichparagon.proboards.com/thread/11344/collision-javier-rodriguezSadly, Javi had a major setback in his recovery. A fracture had occurred in his femur/hip area which had incredibly snapped the top of the titanium nail in his femur. How that happened is beyond me but his consultant believes it may have been due to the original fracture site not healing properly and causing stress at that particular area. Javi returned to hospital last Thursday and had another operation to repair the bone fracture, remove the broken nail and replace it with another. Quite a major op. He lost a lot of blood during the operation and has had a transfusion. David W and I visited Javi last Wednesday before his op and he was obviously devastated by this setback which is going to put his recovery time back even further, not to mention another prolonged period of crutch use. He's currently in St Thomas' and when I spoke with him today he was waiting to be transferred to London Bridge Hospital. He's putting on a very brave face despite this set back. I'm planning on a visit tomorrow (Friday) afternoon/evening. He's not sure how long he'll be in hospital but probably until the early part of next week at least. If anyone wishes to visit him feel free to contact him here via the forum (PM) or let me know and I'll speak with him. Alternatively leave a message here, which I'm sure he'll appreciate.

Such awful luck, Javi - hopefully you will mend properly (and quickly) this time. Chin up: this will pass.
