TRACK CHAT AT HERNE HILL VELODROME
From 7.30pm on Thursday 22nd February. In the Exodus Pavilion at Herne Hill Velodrome.
Our own Jon Maher will be giving an introductory talk for Dulwich Paragon members followed by a Q/A session.
It's free to all our members. Anyone and everyone is invited to come along and find out more about the amazing resource that we have on our doorstep.
This talk will cover everything from the history of the track to what you need to do to get accreditation and take on racing in the track league.
We'll discuss track bikes, training session schedules, different types of races, let alone what do all those different coloured lines mean etc!
Don't forget that there are also road bike sessions throughout the year and we've even been running TT specific session over the winter. So there is something for everyone.
And you can follow it up with asking as many questions as you like. If anyone wants to let me know of any topic that they would like to discuss in particular post up or send me a message.
We will make sure Jan's Cafe is open so you can also expect to enjoy some Canopy beer and the odd packet of crisps.
Spring is in the air, track league starts in April and even if you just want to use the track for training, opportunities abound for you all to ride at the Velodrome.
Come along and hear all about it!

Bugger - same night as Helen Wyman is at Look Mum No Hands. A difficult choice for James Corlett following his experiments in riding CX on his track bike.

I'll be joining Jon to field any questions about women's training sessions, plus women's track league and racing in general.

Please don't ask Jon about reverse win-out tactics.

Please don't ask Jon about reverse win-out tactics. Ideally we’d have one of our certified track commissaries present to cover such topics Massimo

Jon 1 of the most knowledgeable people about track. He helped me alot in my first year of track. So you can teach an old dog new tricks...
Definitely worth hearing his views if you want to ride or race track.
And you are never more than 200 metres from a bar or barista.... plus a great team spirit exists within the paragon trackies...

Last Bump for this on Thursday!
If you’re even remotely interested in track, come along and learn from my many hilariously misguided mistakes. I’ll also be delving into embarrassing s**t that others have done on the track too, and most importantly there will be BEER..
All things track will be covered* No questions considered too ill informed - all welcome.
(*As this session is focused on track, the following topics will NOT be covered:- Dual Carrigeways, Disc Brakes, Derailleurs, Potholes, Mud, Jockey wheel cleaning, Right Turns, Power meter calibration, Tubeless Tyres, Roundabouts, Gravel, Regents Park, Mudguards, Thru axle standards, The word “Lightweight”, Lights, Saddle Bags, 1x Drivetrains, Non-Alcoholic Beverages, Jersey Pockets, Brakes, White Vans, Road markings, Internal Cabling, Layhams Road, Weight Loss, Triple digit distances, Audax, Top-Tubing, “Vertically Compliant”, Hills, Richmond Park, Strava Segments, Quick Release.)
And just a reminder, BEER!

Thanks to those that came along tonight, I hope you found the session useful (and that I managed to avoid all the unrelated topics in my previous post!)
As there’s quite a bit of good info scattered around the t’internet, I will post up a doc with some “favourite” links covering the topics discussed tonight for reference (session schedules, Lee Valley info, rules, bike specs etc.)
Also - there is a dedicated DP track whatsapp group for racing/training info etc. Please PM me your number on the forum if you’d like to be added.

Thank you Jon, that was a really useful and interesting evening.
It’s got me keen to start track and got me thinking about taking up racing. Which is nice.
Thanks and good luck with your season.
