These arrived today from CRC, as well as some Saris and Thule units to test on new vehicles. They'll be sent back free via Collect plus if no one's interested. Thought I'd offer them before they're returned, as they're significantly more expensive elsewhere and I managed to get the only Bomber and Hornets they had in stock, on sale for the day and with 10% BC discount.
1 * Seasucker Bomber (3bikes) £385 - cheapest you'll find online is £519 1 * Seasucker Falcon (1 bikes0 £163 - cheapest you'll find online is normally £219, CRC have 1 more left at 179.99 2 * Seasucker Hornet (1 bikes each) £130 - cheapest online is £219
Firstly, yes they work. I have friends who use for MTBs without issue.
The Bomber model will fit most car roofs (exc soft tops) and doesn't require rails of any sort.
The Falcon (pitched as pick up truck will fit most car roofs or rear windows. They're deisng for 20kg MTBs, so will take a roadbike with ease.
The Hornets - generally work better with MTBs. Fine with road bikes with the following caveat - a) you dont have lots of uncut steerer tube showing above the stem (thats why I dont want them for our hire bikes) 2) how angled up your STis are With Shimano Hyrdaulics disc brakes in quite an upright position, the handlebars may need rotating a few degrees. Not a problem with a normal race back and cut steerer.
All of them are great when you dont want anything to rub on your bike, including other bikes.
cheers
