Bike mugging in Burgess Park - be careful out there

New club member Martha (not yet on the forum) was mugged at knife point on Tuesday evening while cycling through Burgess Park, very close to the entrance on Albany Road. This follows reports on social media of a very similar assault in Walthamstow last week. Luckily she is unhurt although she lost her bike and phone.

I wanted to make the club aware as many of you may use Burgess Park or other London parks/green corridors for commuting. Please be careful and avoid any dimly lit areas after dark.

Thanks for sharing Esther, I use that route a lot, hope Martha is O.K. these things take time to recover from. Hope she reported this to the Police, they can put on extra patrols. This was a problem a few years back, to the extent that Southwark Council put on a mini bus shuttle at 5pm for staff working in Chiltern House to take them to E and C.
