Really amazed and pleased to find this old photo today of my father-in-law presenting the prize for a Stage win of the Milk Race. I’m not sure what year this was taken, making finding out who the rider is a little tricky and it would be great to know. I believe it might be British cycling legend Malcolm Elliott. The year could be 1987 where he won five stages and the race overall. Really keen to know if anyone else can help shed some light. Thanks in advance James

If it's1987, Igor Sumnikov won the Milton Keynes stage. Don't think his hair is long enough for Elliott!

Frankie Relax was '84 but 10 years prior to '87 Holly from Frankie was in a Liverpool group called Big in Japan. We were all very much in the punk rock moment. Imagine my horror when in 1977 on holiday in Llandudno my younger sister persuaded me to accompany her to say hello to the "voice of the Milk Race" one Alvin Stardust! He was actually quite cool. I still have the Milk Race route poster but can not for the life of me recall who won the Llandudno stage that year. James good luck with identifying the winner in your photo.

Looks like Elliot was points leader. That may be Sumnikov behind him in the Cycling Weekly image wearing the GC leader jersey.

That's not Sumnikov behind Elliott, surely it's Joey McLoughlin ?
