Hi all,
Over the last year women's chain gain in Regents park on Wednesday evening has been a great success and we want to build on this this year. It is a great platform for women of the club to learn about group riding and riding in a chain gang and is also a chance to meet other women and get some good training in.
As we approach the warmer months we thought it would be great to set this up again in a more formal way. So between now and the end of September every Wednesday there will be at least two of the more experienced women in Regents Park from 6-8pm to run this.
We will meet on the Outer Circle on the SE corner of the park (the one closest to Great Portland Street tube station) ready to start riding anticlockwise at 6pm. The general format of each session will be
* Laps of group riding, two by two to get used to riding close to each other and on someone else's tail around the outer circle
* Riding in chain gang around the outer circle
* 30mins drills in the inner circle
Then once a month we shall run a more formal training session hopefully with a guest to coach us!
Each week the women who will lead the session will post onto this tread so you know who to look out for and they will be riding the session in Dulwich kit. The aim will be to keep the group together, but still to be a push! If you arrive later than 6pm ride clockwise until you see the group.
These evening sessions will allow you to build up a good base should you wish to move onto some of the quicker chain gangs that club members do.
Road bikes are recommended for these sessions and if you have any questions please drop me a line or post on here but please do check back here every week to see who will be leading.
I look forward to seeing how these develop over summer
Thanks, Libby
PS: We are all for integration of the sexes, we do love riding with you men, but in this instance we are keen to keep these women only rides as we found this formula worked really well last year.
