Its pretty good I think, past few years have been starts on a the grassy field at the bottom, goes up a woodland hillside, a few twisty bits through the trees and then a fast(ish) down hill section. Definitely not a load of marker tape in a field style job, rode it a few years ago after it had rained and it was full mud tyres and 39x27.. so I liked it!!

ok. if the weather if bad over the weekend ill do this one. If its sunny, Ill head to basildon which is a grass course with 40 reps up a steep hill interspersed with flat grass. I doubt i could stomach it in the wet

I'll be there and have bribed the family with talk of a short race in a park by the sea. They'll never come again.

Unfortunately, I can't race this weekend, but there are some new registration/sign on things to be aware of. Sunday the 7th September sees the first round of the 2014/15 CycleLab - London and South East Cyclo-Cross League once again hosted by VC Jubilee and Brighton Excelsior at Stanmer Park in Brighton (BN1 9SE). I am hoping you will be able to pass this email on to any of your club members who may be interested in entering as there have been a few significant changes to the organisation of the League and I thought it would be a good idea to fore-warn riders so they are fully prepared when they arrive and we can get the sign on and registration done as quickly as possible. The first change is that word REGISTRATION. This year as well as affiliation to the league (see below) all riders must register and pay a one off fee to cover the use of the timing chip (this does not apply to U10 and U12 riders who do not need to register). The fee is £5 of which £2 will be refunded when a rider returns their chip and number at the end of the season (or whenever they chose to return them).Next change is online entry. I am told it is coming and will be available for all riders except the U10 and U12 categories again. The process is being hosted by RiderHQ and as I mentioned should be available shortly. Riders can also complete the registration process through the same link. The advantage is quicker sign on for those that have completed the process and it should make life a whole lot easier for the volunteers involved in the process (what better reason). And the last change with the league is that the Junior riders are this year riding in the Senior race. One change for our event this year is that we will have a separate course for the U10 and U12 races so the other categories will be able to pre-ride their course whilst races 1 & 2 are running. Other than that it’s the same friendly atmosphere, great racing and fabulous catering. And a reminder that for a rider’s results to count towards the final league standings they must either individually or through their club be affiliated to the league. All club’s promoting one of the league’s events get free affiliation for their members. There is a cut-off date for affiliation, use the contact page on the league’s website www.londonxleague.co.uk/ for more information. The website also gives details of all the other rounds in this season’s leagues and will have all the results.
