2016/7 WEDNESDAY NIGHT ROADBIKES TRAINING SESSIONS - HERNE HILL VELODROME, BURBAGE ROAD, DULWICH
Our very popular training sessions start again on WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 5th 2016 running through until WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 22ND 2017
Sessions are 7pm - 9pm under floodlights and unless very wet or icy, will run every week through the winter (see schedule below) Sessions are FREE but you must be a current club member (2nd claim allowed) and you must sign on with emergency contact details before entering the track. NO TT rigs, clip-ons, fixies, track-bikes - these sessions are for roadbikes ONLY.
All ADVANCED sessions will be coached by Paul Mill of Elite Cycling and are for those who are regular, current racers ONLY. A level of competence, speed and experience is assumed. You may be asked to leave the session if you can't keep up...! (Charlie Codrington will lead CX training sessions in the grounds of the velodrome on Advanced session nights)
All INTERMEDIATE sessions will be coached / led by qualified / experienced club members. Some will also be coached by Paul Mill. These sessions aim to give you a good workout, while improving skill and confidence at riding on - and in - the wheels in a safe, traffic-free, well-lit environment, and to some extent replace the Weds evening chaingangs.
Please note there are some changes for this year:
1) There will be no 'Beginners / Easy' sessions, only Intermediate and Advanced. INTERMEDIATE sessions will include a short induction for those new to the track. You must do one of these if you have never ridden on the track before (… and they do not count towards track racing accreditation)
2) Numbers will be strictly limited as follows: INTERMEDIATE - 50 riders, ADVANCED - 40 riders. Each session will be managed by a senior club member, who will enforce these limits. Unless you are signed-on and ready to start at 7pm, you may be out of luck...
