We must be doing something right - Both Ed and Little Joe pulled in a 4th in their respective races in the last of the years Mud Sweat and Gears MTB series on Sunday.
Special mention to Haydon Cassidy - friend and fierce adversary of our Ed, overall winner in the Youth cat for the year - well deserved result - chapeau.
Rides on Saturday 1st October - a change of plan.
Rather than head out on the roads this week as planned , several of you have asked that do a Cross MTB ride instead. It’s set fair for tomorrow, and as most of you now have access to an off road bike it would be rude not to.
We’ll be leading a ride around the Keston loop, essentially, Hayes Common, Nag Alley, Mullucks Bottom, Jewels Wood and round via Tramp’s Tunnel finishing in Cafe Paradou around 1pm
Cross or MTB bikes are suitable and the ride is open to those who have regularly attended either my or Mark’s rides and/or who are consistently racing. (you know who you are, the loop is approx 15 miles long and we will be keeping a steady pace throughout)
Part of ride will be on the road so normal pack drill required:
BC and HHYCC or DP membership required (unless this is your first ride)
Helmets must be worn
Spare inner tube
A full water bottle and some food
Money for tea and cake
Number of your parent/guardian/rescuer/responsible adult on a piece of paper.
If it’s your first ride - a signed Parental Consent form.
Note - you should be able carry all the above on your bike - rucksacks are banned.
Sunday 2nd October
Rd3 London Cross League - Sumners Pond.
We’re all off to Horsham this weekend for a fine course of rolling grassland interspersed with a bit of single track, should be fast and furious unlike the flandrian mudbath of former years.
Evening Training starts this week - summer really is over
Look up - the timings have changed from last year:
Tuesday Evening - BC Cluster Sessions
Start at 6pm and run through to 7.30 pm, this is a very well planned progressive series of ROAD bike training sessions on the track. Open to any rider aged 12 and above who is racing or has aspirations to so. I cannot recommend these session highly enough - there is a totally proven correlation between attending these sessions regularly and improved riding skill, race results and overall fitness.
As these are British Cycling organised sessions you will need a parents consent form for the first session you attend (attached) and a fee - which I believe is £3 a time - take a fiver to be sure.
Wednesday Evening - Dulwich Paragon Chain Gangs on Track
Similar to the above, starts at 7 pm and run through till 9pm, ROAD bikes on the track although the emphasis is more on endurance, these sessions are suitable for older (and stronger) youths and Juniors and are free of charge to HHYCC and DP members.
Wednesday Evening Cross Training
Held in conjunction with the DP Chain gangs on track, these session will be held periodically - I’ll give you all notice.
Calendar for this week:
Saturday: Off Road ride
Sunday: London League - Sumners Ponds
Monday:
Tuesday: BC Cluster Session - Velodrome
Wednesday:DP Chain Gang on Track at the Velodrome
Thursday:
Friday:
Saturday: Cross skills session at Herne Hill
