A few of you brave souls trekked out down south for the second visit of Happy Valley, Luke finished with the biggest grin on his face, well happy with a top 10 finish, while little Joe proved his worth with a 1st in Youth B. Jules rode well, gaining a 6th followed by Harry in 12th.
This weekend - a bit of more off road - sorry roadies - but it is the season.
Saturday morning
We’ll be running an all ages skill session in Norwood Country Park - by all ages we mean all riders that normally come on Mark’s ride and all adults including, dare I mention, Parents/Carers and Guardians…...
Session will cover off camber riding, cornering , the inevitable dismount and remount and for variety starts.
Meet at the velodrome at 9.15 for a 9.30 start and we will be back at Cafe Paradou for chips and coffee around 1pm.
As part of this ride will on road usual pack drill required;
BC and HHYCC or DP membership required (unless this is your first ride)
Helmets must be worn
Spare inner tube
A full water bottle and some food
Money for tea and cake
Number of your parent/guardian/rescuer/responsible adult on a piece of paper.
If it’s your first ride - a signed Parental Consent form.
Sunday Rd 7- London League XC - Bethlem
Nellie won, we reap the rewards, Round 7 will be at Bethlem Hospital in West Wickham, it should be a decent course and there are no reasonable excuses for not turning up and having a bash - this includes those revered “Parents/Guardians and Careers”
Mid week Evening Training
Tuesday Evening - BC Cluster Sessions
Start at 6pm and run through to 7.30 pm, this is a very well planned progressive series of ROAD bike training sessions on the track. I’d welcome some feedback from those doing these sessions.
Wednesday Evening 19th Oct - Dulwich Paragon Chain Gangs on Track
Its an ‘Intermediate’ session this week, open to all Junior riders and stronger Youth riders - road bikes on the track. Starts at 7 pm until 9 pm.
Weekend 12th- 13th November - Thwart the Mud Monster
Mark has managed to arrange for 32 tonnes of old motorway to be delivered to the velodrome, it is in our interest to spread this liberally on the trails to thwart the monster when he returns with Earnest later in the year.
Volunteers of every creed and club are urged to help, 32 tonnes will not moved themselves. I’m assured that HHYCC branded wheelbarrows will be at the ready.
