Congratulations to Max, Olly, Cubaidh and Polly racing in Team Blue Youth (somehow listed in the results as ‘Not HHYCC’) finishing 2nd in Sunday’s Team champs, also to be noted that Max regained his form and finished first Youth A. Congratulations to the team and Max.
In the Juniors - Ed joined Dulwichs' Blue Lightning Senior team, the team finished 4th with Ed powering in very impressive top 10 position. I know this was an impressive result I raced as well - it was a truly traditional cross course in truly traditional CX conditions.
Ed has raced a phenomenal season this year, narrowly missing winning the LCCA series by whisker and that’s with 6 weeks off for a broken wrist. An impressive and well deserved result for the season, well done.
Be inspired people, be very inspired; there is no reason why most of you with a wee bit of determination can’t match (or even better) Ed’s performance.
Rides this weekend
Saturday 11th February - Youth and Junior CX Ride
According to those in the know it’s going to be cold and icy over the weekend, so we will retreat to an off road exploration suitable for both CX and MTB bikes and riders in Youth Categories A and B which is technically those born in 2003 or earlier.
Length will be about 20 miles taken at a steady pace.
Meet at the velodrome at 9 to leave by 9.15 ish - we will be scoffing coffee and chips in Paradou by 1.30 pm.
Part of ride will be be on road so normal packdrill required
HHYCC/DP and BC membership required
Bring spare inner tubes
Do a bike check prior to leaving
Wear suitable clothes for the season
Food (snacks - not 4 course lunch) and liquid
Telephone number of your parent/rescuer in your back pocket.
All this should fit in pockets in your jersey - if doesn’t you’re carrying too much and you will be required to leave the excess at the Velodrome.
It’s going to be cold on Saturday so please do a decent bike check prior to setting off. Dave and I aren’t really that interested in fixing easily preventable mechanical issues and punctures in the freezing cold.
Youth and Junior Discussion Group
A heads up - Geoff and I are planning to hijack part of the next HHYCC AGM (due sometime in March) to have an informal meeting with parents and riders who want to join the combined HHYCC/DP youth program. We want to use this meeting to encourage riders to join us and for parents to understand what we are doing and how they can help support their child/youth/young adult and the group as a whole.
Mid week training sessions
Tuesday Evening - There are still are few more of these - make full use of the opportunity.
Wednesday Evening - we will be running a CX/MTB session this week - see the forum for details as this may be a an Off road Chain gang and only suitable for strong Youth and Junior riders.
March Mid Week Sessions - Juniors and strong Youths
Wednesday evening - Join the Dulwich Paragon Road Chain Gang
Thursday evening - Help establish the new DP Off road Chain Gang
Forthcoming races - while you lot (and your parents) deserve a break, add to calendar a rather good MTB race in MSG series on the 26th Feb at the Stratford.
