Mega Chapeau to Ed - that lad’s flying ripping the legs off his elders and well.... slowers , winning his first proper road race in Sunday’s SERRL Lamberhurst and Frant 3rd and 4th Cat Road Race. That course is dead tough - trust me I have raced it with considerable less success than Davies Jr. I and many others are impressed, very well done.
Take heart the rest of you - there’s no reason why any of you cannot match or beat Ed’s achievements - just make sure you come on our Saturday rides on a regular basis…….
Rides this weekend
Loads of different rides
Bill is running a 10’s to 12 ride out and Geoff is taking a girls off road ride out - see the HHYCC facebook page for details
Youths A and B and Juniors - trip to Velopark to play on the MTB circuit.
We will be leading a ride out to the Velopark in Stratford to play on the MTB circuit. It will be the usual mixture of coaching and playing. There are some decent descents, rock gardens and other gnarly bits to tackle.
It costs £5 to enter the park and MTB’s can be hired at the venue.
Meet at the Velodrome at 9 am - I’m not sure when we’ll be back - suggest around 2 to 3 pm.
Part or all of these rides will be be on road so normal packdrill required
HHYCC/DP and BC membership required
Bring spare inner tubes
Do a bike check prior to leaving
Wear suitable clothes for the season
Food (snacks - not 4 course lunch) and liquid
Telephone number of your parent/rescuer in your back pocket.
Wednesday Evening
Junior Chain Gangs - these are fast rides taken alongside the standard Paragon Chain Gang. Meet at Elmers End at 7 pm for a 7.15 start. It’s an out and back route West Wickham> Farnborough>Green St Green>Badgers Mount and back.
You need to be a strong Youth (YA) riders or Junior with a bike in excellent condition and properly working lights. You will riding among other adult riders.
Please email me if you are planning to do this ride - FYI , if it is wet and miserable, stay at home and do some homework.
Youth and Junior Discussion Group 25th March early evening
A heads up - Geoff and I are planning to hijack part of the next HHYCC AGM to have an informal meeting with parents and riders who want to join the combined HHYCC/DP youth program. We want to use this meeting to encourage riders to join us and for parents to understand what we are doing and how they can help support their child/youth/young adult and the group as a whole.
