SATURDAY 27TH JULY
No organised ride this weekend. Juniors are advised to check the Cyclocross Section of Club Forum for details of rides this Saturday.
Alternatively you can join the regular DP Saturday ride – as usual, make yourselves known to the group leader and don't rip their legs off, too much!
DULWICH FOOTPATH HILLCLIMB
A typically soaking wet British Summer's afternoon didn't deter a descent turn out for the 4th running of the hillclimb. There were numerous attempts made on the climb over the course of the afternoon, some more serious than others. Amongst those spotted were; Wonder Woman, a Beekeeper and all manner of bikes from fixies to mountain bike and even the odd 'retro' affair. Chapeau to Ed who came within a few gnat's whisker of a shock overall win, recording the 3rd fastest time overall and fastest Junior in the process.
SUMMER CYCLOCROSS
Two rounds down, two to go! By all accounts the first round at Jubilee Park was a very well run event and no doubt this evenings round at Frylands will be too. The last two rounds will be even more local – R3 will be at Beckenham Place Park and R4 at the velodrome.
These are a great introduction to cyclocross and well worth getting along to if you can.
If you're planning on racing, now's the time to wash off that mud from the Team Champs, pump up the tyres (just a tad! - it is cross after all!) and generally start fettling your steads, making sure they're back in perfect working order. We'd certainly recommend that you get your local bike shop to give your bike the once over so you know it's all sorted. If you're unsure of where to take your bike to get it checked, Charlie or I can always help point you in the right direction.
Dates for the remaining Summer Series rounds are;
Rd 3: Beckenham Place Park, 3rd August
Rd 4: Herne Hill, 10th August
