It's BACK... and in a NEW VENUE*
The Monday night club-subsidised turbo-training sessions run by Paul Mill at Elite Cycling start again on MONDAY OCT 14 and run for 10 weeks until MONDAY DECEMBER 16.
There are 25 places available on the top-quality turbos and the whole 10 week block will only cost you £50 - just five measly quid a week. Plus, if there are weeks you can't make, you can sell your spot to any drop-ins who want a great one-off workout, provided they let Paul have some critical info by 4pm on the day (age, weight, height, HR max) Sessions commence at 7.30pm sharp (please allow 10 minutes to get your bike set up) and last one, sweat-soaked, maxed-out hour. It's safe, it's indoors and it's FUN. All you bring is your bike and a towel - water is provided, as is Paul's own brand of coaching, encouragement and music to perspire to. Dates are: (Monday) Oct 14 / 21 / 28 Nov 4 / 11 / 18 / 25 / Dec 2 / 9 / 16 2019. Sign-up link below:

Hi all, for those of you who are coming to turbo beat, note that the new location is NOT in the Jubilee Stand. It is in the lower ground floor of the Crystal Palace Sports Centre. In order to get there, once you get to the Crystal Palace Park car park, follow the signs to the Jubilee Stand, go down the hill, go past the Jubilee Stand (this should be on your left), go past the Elite Cycling office (also on your left), keep going until you cycle under an underpass and about 15metres after the underpass you should see a gate on your left that leads into the Sport Centre. Go through the gate, this will take you through the back of a few buildings and to the door to the Sports Centre. Usually Paul will be at the door waiting.
You can not get to Turbo Beat via the main entrance of the sports centre so please don't try.

I happen to be one of the lucky 25 that managed to get a space! But just thought I better check bike compatability as my race bike has disc brakes and I know not all trainers are compatible.

The turbos are fairly basic and clamp onto the real wheel QR skewers. You can swap out your own skewer for one provided to save on any wear and tear. If you've got a though-axle then I don't see why it shouldn't work the same way but you wouldn't be able to swap it out and you might want to check with Paul Mill - paul@elitecycling.co.uk

I received a very unhelpful email from Paul regarding the turbo trainer when I asked which thru axle would be compatible and whether my kinetic traxle I use on my Tacx would be ok.
He said:
“Not sure mate. We use cycleops trainers so their specific thru axle”
So if anyone who’s done this before would share some insight for those that have thru axles, that’d be greatly appreciated so I don’t show up with the wrong adaptor on the first day!

I would have thought he answered like that because they are provided and you don’t need to worry about compatibility. From memory my tacx quick release / thru axle wasn’t compatible but I still brought my turbo wheel and did a quick swap with the one provided while setting up.

From memory my tacx quick release / thru axle wasn’t compatible but I still brought my turbo wheel and did a quick swap with the one provided while setting up. As far as I’ve been told and what Joe mentioned, they provide thru axles for QR and thru axle bikes require adaptors. The problem is which adaptor as cycleops trainers aren’t actually compatible with all thru axles. There are different Cycleops adaptors on the market-one for their classic trainers and one for their classic/pro and I’m not sure the non cycleops thru axles are fully compatible with all trainers (at least I can’t seem to find any info on the internet). So if anyone knows the make of the trainers they use (or even the thru axles that are compatible), that’d be helpful as Paul isn’t responding and I think he should at least be able to provide some info on the trainers they use so that I can contact cycleops myself!

I've been in touch with Paul re Skewergate. His trainers (Cycleops Super Magneto) accept one specific through-axle skewer. He thinks he has some you can purchase.

A reminder that it is not in the Lodge, the old pain cave, sadly that building has been condemned... so many painfully good memories in that building as well as a lot of puddles of my sweat. David Joss Buckley - any chance you could pretty please update the original post with the info above? Thank you!!!
