When I plan rides, I often think not so much of entire routes, but particular roads I want to include. For example, I love the narrow, flat, quiet, winding road out of Lingfield just after you go past the Young Epilepsy complex. I find it impossible to resist hitting the front and pushing the pace a little when I get there. www.strava.com/segments/4071199Just wondering if anyone else has particular favourites. Might be the view you get, how quiet they are, the gradient, the flora / fauna, the proximity to a cafe, just any road that makes you happy to be out riding your bike.

in no particular order: - The long slow downhill to Knockholt and on to Pratt's Bottom. - Shire lane, heading outwards. - Knatts Valley (obvs) - the single track past the epilepsy centre - Denby's vineyard near Box - The Enterdent - Furnace Lane. Stunning in Winter or Summer
There are loads more that i can't name. In 2020 I vow to make use of my GPS's POI tagging more.

oh, and Downe Ramp, heading back towards Downe. After the initial 20% descent, that long downhill bit is a blast.

This is one of my very favourite stretches - short but very beautiful whatever time of year. A sharp, bumpy descent that reveals a hidden valley draped in hanging woods. A short climb out, couple of bends then a long straight drop straight onto the A21; 4km from rural tranqulity to motorised madness. Marvellous. Have a look > ridewithgps.com/routes/31688379

Hogtrough Hill when the bluebells are out.
But according to my heat map Pilgrims Way and Polhill!

Have a look > ridewithgps.com/routes/31688379A couple of years ago I meandered at random into that cluster of lanes between Knockholt and the A21 that rarely make sense to incorporate into planned routes, and it is like a hidden world.

Hogtrough Hill when the bluebells are out. But according to my heat map Pilgrims Way and Polhill! I seem to remember that Furnace Lane is excellent for bluebells if you catch it in the right week. www.strava.com/segments/3201721

Fackenden Lane to the top of Row Dow near Shoreham/Otford (in either direction) - especially when the bluebells are out. Back Lane from Riverhead to Ide Hill Brasted Chart (i.e. north side of Toys) Gibbs Brook Lane from Broadham Green to Crowhurst Chelsfield Lane / Maypole Rd Beddlestead of course
Now wondering if I could link these up into one route.

Made a route that links Featherbed Lane, Woldingham School (always quiet and pleasant), Gibbs Brook Lane, St Piers Lane, the nice bit after Penshurst, Bough Beech Reservoir, and DJB's wooded valley. There may be some little issues, e.g. I'm not convinced by the bit near Godstone, but it might be a nice club run. www.strava.com/routes/23211296

Tilty to Broxted and more specifically this section. It's a bit far for a club run but is just lovely, and looks especially good if you're off the back with riders in front winding across the hill. Very Flanderersly.

Adding one for the urban cyclist: QR1 from Greenwich to Waterloo is a great, mostly traffic-free (or -light at worst) way into town for anyone in SE3/8/9/10 etc. This is the bit I use most.... ridewithgps.com/routes/31727100

But woldingham school is my favourite road. I’m going to add the bridleway through Farleigh golf course for off road route. Just because

Pitchfont Lane (rideable in mid-summer). The best way up Titsey if you can find it.
& Old Polhill..

just 150m, but repeated 25 times f-u-l-l g-a-s. you lean the frame into the left-hander which rises throughout the corner and stamp down as hard as you can to shake off that friggin' gorilla on your tail. this is the southerly loop on the velopark anticlockwise circuit. a balmy mid-week evening outside the iconic olympic velodrome
D974 a kilometre out of Bedoin you swing north east towards Saint-Colombe. the steady rise takes you through vineyards and the hamlet of les Bruns. time to draw breath and prepare the mind for what will unfold at Saint-Esteve... the tight left hairpin marks the start of your climb up ventoux
