I had a similar incident (not as violent as yours though). The police attended and were completely on the motorist's side as he was shouting, while I was in shock. I subsequently reported the incident at my local police station. The police there were sympathetic and said I could prosecute, as it was ABH (actual bodily harm). I wanted to put the whole thing behind me, as I was not actually injured and, unfortunately, did not go ahead with the prosecution. I regret this now as it left a nutcase on the road thinking it's ok to beat up cyclists. Did you get witnesses' details? Even if you didn't I would urge you to prosecute as well as doing the other things you intend doing.

Hi
I am trying to get this sorted out. But as of yet, there is no police report of the incident so no prosecution can be brought forward.

Have you tried Matt Seaton at the Guardian?
