Chaingang is go.. ..with caveats.
So it’s rule of 6 still for the moment. ‘Official’ events can increase capacity to larger groups but only with a load of red tape that goes with it, so club rides are groups of up to 6 riders for the time being.
There’s no reason why chaingang can’t start up again, but we really can’t have a massive mob of Dulwich kits congregating around Elmers End roundabout pre ride, or large groups out on the road - cue local media outrage and terrible image for the club and cycling in general (not to mention transmission risk). So it’d be best to pre-organise via forum/WhatsApp as much as possible and keep to small groups on the road/roadside.
Much as I’m not generally a fan of numerical breakdowns of cycling ability.. Carl’s assessment of the group divisions might be handy here: Group 1 - 4wkg+ Group 2 - 3.7ish Group 3 - 3.3ish
So if you’re planning on riding chaingang, shout on here or WhatsApp (message me if you want to be added to the Dulwich racers group) saying if you’re aiming for group 1, 2 or 3 and we can self organise into groups of six.
Group 1s gather on the south side, near the car dealership, group 2s in the middle near the bus-stop, and group 3s north side near the curry house.
Fast group off at 7:10, medium a couple of minutes later, steady a couple of minutes after that.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are all possible chaingang evenings. Highest numbers usually gathering on Wednesdays.
Well, think I’ve made that about as clear as the government guidelines. Hopefully makes sufficient sense!

Great job getting this restarted Arthur! Everyone PLEASE remember Covid-19 mitigation measures are still in place, so...
... No groups greater than 6 pre- and post-ride. 2m distancing off the bike / 1m when riding.
... No sharing of bidons / tools / inners etc etc.
... No spitting, snot-shooting in the bunch.
... No riding if you're feeling off-colour or have any Covid-19 symptoms.
... If you show symptoms after the ride, you MUST contact a member of the committee.
This all applies to any ride - official or casual.
Stay safe!

Hi all, I recently joined and am keen to join the chaingang tonight (if the weather does not change for the worse). Is there a group 1 or 2 going out today?

I believe there is a group of 6 heading out at 7pm for a ‘group 3 pace’ chaingang tonight. Trying to get WhatsApp details for you now.

For anyone else looking to do chaingang, there will be an appropriate WhatsApp group to help you organise while restrictions remain. Just email me at martinheadon@hotmail.com and I'll try to link you up...

Hi. I’m new to DPCC. I’d like to ride in the chain gangs please. I’ll start in group 3 if I may? Do I need the chain gang WhatsApp details?

Hi. I’m new to DPCC. I’d like to ride in the chain gangs please. I’ll start in group 3 if I may? Do I need the chain gang WhatsApp details? Hi Simon. Current situation, with the issues around group sizes and traceability, is that we have a bit of a mix: Fast groups - organised by a WhatsApp group managed largely by Arthur, our road race secretary. Average speeds in the "mental" bracket. An intermediate group - with a separate WhatsApp group. Averaging about 29kph I think. A steadier group, that Gwyn restarted last week, organised here on the forum. I'm up for that next week so will start a separate thread for it. For access to the WhatsApp groups probably easiest to reply to Martin's Rides Roundup email as he is hooked into most. If restrictions relax further at the end of the month then we might be able to go back to just turning up.
