Hi everybody,
As some of you may know, this summer I'll be cycling across the United States. Starting on the west coast in Oregon, me and small team of brits and americans will cycle our way across 4255 miles of america to end on the east coast in Virginia.
Its going to be one of the most gruelling, challenging and exciting things we've ever done, carrying everything we need from food and water to clothes, spare parts and tools on our bikes, and camping every night.
I'm going to be cycling in aid of Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) or Doctors Without Borders, which is the leading non-governmental organisation providing emergency healthcare, food, shelter and sanitation to thousands of people in over 70 countries worldwide, including right now in Burma where the cyclone has caused devastation and aid agencies are struggling to reach the sufferers. They also train the local people in health and sanitation techniques to improve so many lives even once they've left.
I'm trying to raise £1000 for MSF by cycling across the United States during my university summer holiday and I'd be really greatful if you would sponsor me on this epic challenge, even a small amount, to help MSF who rely heavily on donations to send personnel and their equipment to those places in need. Heres how they can use your money:
£!7-Cholera Treatment for one person
£42 - treats three people for Malaria
£79 - buys a village midwife kit
£102 - vaccinates 60 children against measles
£180 - treats one person with aids for a year
£288 - buys two emergency surgical kits
I hope that you can dig deep to help me achieve my goal and support MSF. It would mean so much to me and would make a enormous difference to so many lives across the globe.
My fundraising page is www.justgiving.com/prudencejarrett. If you decide you would like to sponsor me, you can use this website to donate, its really easy and totally secure. PLEASE SPONSOR ME!
Thanks so much, Prudence.
