... wanted! Please see email below from Lara. It should only take a few minutes of your time, so if you are an enthusiastic proponent, please do send Lara an email.

Just to follow up on my voicemail left this morning – I really hope you might be able to help out with some cycle promotion work I am doing at the moment for Transport for London.
I have been brought into the TfL press office to do some features on cycling, to encourage Londoners to take to two wheels. One of the publications I am working with is London Sport, a free magazine given out in gyms, City firms and sports shops. They are planning a “winter fitness without locking yourself in a gym” feature for their January edition, and are very interested in encouraging new cyclists.
We are approaching it from two angles, as LS readers are obviously already interested in sport, but might not have thought of commuter cycling. The first angle is to encourage new commuters, via the TfL route maps and improvements in road safety, facilities, parking etc etc. The second angle is to encourage those who already cycle and are keen sportsmen and women to join a local club and have a sociable time whilst getting and maintaining their fitness. We will print the British Cycling web address in the article to direct people to their local club.
My boyfriend Pete Thornton is a member of the club (coincidentally he is coming on your Sunday ride this weekend) and we have both been to Herne Hill (honestly, the most fun I have ever had, just fantastic) – as well as commuting across London. I am in the process of trying to find storage space so I can invest in an audax bike – if only we had a bigger flat. So, rest assured the article will be put together by a committed cyclist!
I also noticed Bryan Taylor is a member – I actually spoke to him back in September before the Tour of Britain as I needed a competitor in the days racing to cycle some of the route with a camera crew. Unfortunately it fell through as ITV dropped us at the last minute, but Bryan was exceptionally helpful and I was thrilled to watch him in the race on the day.
Do you think you might have any members who would be happy to have a quick phone conversation early next week with the London Sport editor? They are putting together the January edition at the moment and so time is a little short – but I really do want to push the club messages as much as possible, so I’d be really grateful if you might be able to help out.
Please don’t hesitate to call or email, and my apologies for such a long email,
With regards, Lara
