Dear Bob,
We are a medical charity based in Canary Wharf, part of the international humanitarian aid NGO Medecins du Monde that provides healthcare for vulnerable people around the world, caring for young and old, from victims of earthquakes, to prevention of HIV/AIDS transmission from mother to child.
We are currently organizing a London to Paris bike ride to raise vital funds for our emergency projects. We would be interested in publishing an article on the website of Dulwich Paragon (for example in calendar).
Last year, Médecins du Monde UK ran their London to Paris Bike Ride with great success. Our 44 participants raised over £40,000 for our association. The Third Annual MdM London to Paris Bike Ride will take place from the 12th to the 15th of July 2008.
I attach to the email the press release and a photo of the London to Paris bike ride 2007.

PRESS RELEASE
Re: London to Paris Bike Ride- Médecins du Monde UK 12-15 July 2008
Following the success of our sponsored bike ride in 2007, Médecins du Monde UK (MdM UK) is calling for more adventurous cyclists to sign up for the third London to Paris Bike Ride 2008. This incredible three-day challenge covers almost 300 kilometres of hilly - but stunningly colourful - terrain.
The unique aspect to this charity’s event is the link between the work of MdM’s offices in both London and Paris. As well as sending volunteers overseas to provide medical care to vulnerable people who are effected by natural disasters (recent earthquake in Peru), conflict (emergency mission sent to Iraq) and extreme poverty (HIV/AIDS prevent amongst the slum dwellers in Cambodia) - both offices run healthcare projects in their capital cities for marginalised populations who cannot access mainstream healthcare services. Overall, MdM operates in nine European countries in this way, and MdM UK’s initiative is called Project: London.
For the Bike Ride challenge, the team meets in London on the first morning, then cycles to the coast to catch a ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe.
Serena Norman said: “Cycling in this stunning scenery for a good cause with a great bunch of people was absolutely magnificent. An experience I will be telling my grandchildren about.”
Cycling through Normandy, Helen Torry, enjoyed “cycling early in the morning, through absolutely stunning French scenery-gorgeous yellow corn, lush green trees and blue sky-amazing !It was so peaceful and just pleasure to be cycling along and enjoying the fresh air-even with the ‘undulations’ !”.
Paul summarised his experience in a few words:” The three days that changed my life and hopefully for someone else who really needs it. Thank you. Best moments: everything.”
In 2008, MdM UK’s London to Paris Bike Ride will leave London on Saturday 12 July, arriving at the Eiffel Tower in Paris by late afternoon on Monday 14 July in time for the amazing Bastille Day celebrations in France’s magical capital city. Cyclists can rest their tired legs on Tuesday 15 July, sightsee or visit MdM's Parisian offices. The return journey is by Eurostar on Tuesday afternoon.
Participants must pay a non-refundable £99 Registration Fee, then pledge to raise £1,000 in sponsorship funds.

Extra notes about the MdM in our work:
1. Médecins du Monde UK is an international humanitarian aid organisation that provides medical care to vulnerable populations who are in crisis situations because of natural disasters, conflict or extreme poverty; or who are excluded from healthcare. Part of the MdM international network established in 1980, the healthcare is provided by medical and non-medical professionals who volunteer their time and expertise.
2. Its volunteers also 'bear witness' to any human rights abuse or obstacles to healthcare that they see, giving people a voice who might otherwise not be heard.
3. MdM UK recruits medical and non-medical volunteers to participate in 93 overseas projects in 51 countries. The MdM network runs three types of healthcare projects: emergency, post-emergency & rehabilitation, and long-term development. Visit: www.medecinsdumonde.org.uk
