This just in...
Dear David
I hope you don't mind me dropping you a quick email. However, I thought that members of Dulwich Paragon CC might be interested in an event we're hosting in July. The event is a once in a lifetime opportunity to climb Alpe D'Huez with 2008 Tour de France winner, Carlos Sastre. He will be returning for the very first time to the stage where he captured the yellow jersey in 2008. This momentous occasion will be captured for TV and broadcast on August 19th prime time across the Eurosport network right after their coverage of La Vuelta. There is plenty of information about the Trois Etapes at www.troisetapes.org. We have not yet publicised the fact that Carlos Sastre is riding the event. A few of the charities taking part have some spare rider slots and we'd like to help them fill these positions now. The charities include:
- Friendship Works, the UK's oldest children's mentoring charity
- Right to Play
- The Prostate Cancer Charity
- dZi Foundation
- The Challenge Network
- Carlos's own charity, the Victor Sastre Foundation
The ride will be fully supported with rolling road closures and teams of support cars, mechanics and pro riders to share their knowledge of doing the Tour. The event director is Scott Sunderland, former Director Sportive of CSC Saxo Bank when they won the Tour in 'O8 and former Senior DS at Team Sky. He will ensure the “pro feel” and the safely of all riders. There will be the option for 3 days riding in the Alps with long and short routes each day and the opportunity to ride up to 3 full stages of the Tour including Col de la Madeleine, Col du Telegraph, Col du Galibier and Alpe D’Huez. Most slots are filled (there is only room for 60 riders total) but there is room for a few more riders who would be keen to have the ride of their lives and support the charities involved. All proceeds from the event go to the charities.
If you would like to know more please don't hesitate to contact me or my colleague, Niels Bryan-Low, Cosaveli CEO (niels@cosaveli.com).
Thanks so much and I look forward to hearing from you.
