Does anybody have any stylish suggestions for how to stop chafing brake and gear cables takng all the paint off your head tube? The common cure seems to be several layers of insulating tape but it looks a bit tatty.

a week or two ago Cycling weekly featured a stick on pad kit for this very purpose. I think it was made Bontrager. But there must be others.

You can get then in Edwardes in clear plastic as long as you can put up with the swearing and they feel like finding them in the bottom of some long forgotten drawer.

I've found that if you have mobile phone packaging lying around, the clear plastic stuff they stick over screens works fab, it sticks to the bike by static and is held on by the cable rubbing.
