Last week at Crystal Palace - the only one in the series I have been able to pre-enter online for the next few weeks - there was a reserve list which riders could wait for. I guess it is unpredictable in that it depends how many pre-entered riders don't turn up. But does anyone have any experience of waiting for a reserve place on the night?
Thanks.

Chances are if you get there early you will get a ride.

EOL at Palace works like this: sign-on opens at 6pm in Cadence, so if you want a place be there early, as it's strictly first-come, first-served. Go to the separate EOL desk where you'll be given a numbered ticket (like in the supermarket) and asked to enter your details: name, club, emergency contact number, racing category and the number on your FULL BC racing licence (NO Provisional licences and no day licences - sorry) Then hand over your £10 entry fee and wait until 6.55pm when sign-on closes for pre-registered riders. The course limit is 100, so the difference between that number and the number of p-r riders who have turned up is the number of available EOL places (ie - 100 have pre-registered, only 80 turn up = 20 EOL places) If there's a place, your number will be called and you'll then be given your race numbers. If there isn't a place, you'll get your tenner back. And nb - strictly CASH ONLY!
I don't think we've had many disappointed EOL entrants so far this year - there's usually a place for everyone - but getting there early is the key.
And a note for pre-registered riders: the 6.55 cut-off (20 minutes before race start) is a BC requirement and we exercise it rigidly.
