Yes - to reiterate Jon's message - it's strictly roadbikes only. No TT rigs, no fixies. Sorry.
Next week's session (Weds 24/10) is Advanced. It will be coached by Paul Mill and is open to those who raced regularly in 2015 ONLY.

In order to ensure that everyone gets the most out of these sessions, a reminder that this year we have divided the Wednesdays into Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced (fast) groups on alternating Wednesdays. This was done in order for beginners to have a gentle introduction, intermediate riders to find a good pace/learn skills and advance, and for advanced riders to get a good solid workout.
In these sessions (and riding on the track generally) the key to a good training session is riding tightly and smoothly as a group - increasing and decreasing pace consistently and working together. This all falls apart when there is too large a variation in speed and skills within a group.
A reminder please to consider this when attending these sessions. If you're in the slow group on Intermediate night, then the Advanced nights are not going to be for you (especially as the advanced sessions are conducted as a single group). Conversely, if you like smashing it on the Advanced nights then don't expect to be able to show up at a beginners session and still get a hard workout. Your'e welcome to come along and ride, but only if you are prepared to ride within everyone else's pace (these sessions are for the benefit of beginners after all)
Please be pragmatic about your ability and what you want get out of these sessions, if we keep the groups manageable and disciplined we'll all get a lot more out of these sessions and come out the other side of winter better riders for it.
WEDNESDAY EVENING ROADBIKES TRAINING SESSIONS @ HERNE HILL VELODROME
1) BEGINNERS / EASY - If you've never ridden on the track before you MUST attend one of these sessions first, where you will get a short induction on track etiquette, etc. Slower / returning / recovering riders may want to take part in these sessions. They are scheduled for each Weds following the monthly Non-Members/ Intro Rides so are recommended for new members.
2) INTERMEDIATE - Suitable for most riders. Groups are usually divided into different speeds. Four of the sessions will be coached
3) ADVANCED - For current racers ONLY (ie - those holding race licences, who have competed during 2015 /16 racing season) All six sessions will be coached.
SCHEDULE (* = coached sessions: see above)
Oct 7 Beginners / Easy Oct 14 Intermediate Oct 21 Advanced * Oct 28 Intermediate Nov 4 Intermediate * Nov 11 Beginners / Easy Nov 18 Advanced * Nov 25 Intermediate * Dec 2 Advanced * Dec 9 Beginners / Easy Dec 16 Intermediate * Dec 23 Intermediate Dec 30 Advanced * Jan 6 Beginners / Easy Jan 13 Intermediate * Jan 20 Intermediate Jan 27 Advanced * Feb 3 Intermediate * Feb 10 Beginners / Easy Feb 17 Advanced* Feb 24 Intermediate

Does anyone know whether the beginners session tomorrow have intermediate and advanced groups as well like last month's session. Reading David's email it looks like it won't?
Thanks

Re: Weds Dec 9
No Advanced or faster Intermediate tonight if you please - unless you're happy to work with the slower riders. There are plenty of separate sessions to cater for you, so we'd prefer it if you give this a miss - and that should help to keep numbers - and pace - more manageable.

Hi,
Is there a timetable for this years Herne Hill road bike sessions? I can't find an email I was sent that said places were restricted to 50. I think I must have deleted it. I'd like to know the intermediate dates and I'll add them to my diary.
Thanks James
