Man of the week must be Stan, who was competing in a team with Dave and myself at the Tork 12/12 MTB enduro. We found ourselves racing against a very strong crew from Hackney GT, counting every second of every lap. Buggins turn left Stan with the last lap, 11.30 at night, tired after 12 hours racing and knowing that there was a very strong rider somewhere behind you determined to knock your team off the podium. Stan done well and we finished 3rd.
Coach of the week goes to Geoff - 17th in the 6 hour solo event...bravo to Nutters young and old.
Saturday 6th September - Dulwich Paragon Worlds at Hog Hill, Road and Cross Racing.
This is the Dulwich Paragon end of season club finale held this year at Hog Hill. Essentially a road race held between club members (and by special invitation, those regular Saturday morning HHYCC attendees). This year we have added a ‘fun’ Cross race to the event - I’m expecting to race both the Cross and the Road race.
Note : if you are going to race on Saturday please do NOT wear Dulwich Kit, it makes it difficult to judge a race if everyone is wearing the same colours.
There will be no dedicated ‘youth’ ride this weekend, however there will be an escorted ride to Hog Hill on Saturday - details from Dave JB are thus ‘Meet as last year is at Bermondsey Square SE1 (tinyurl.com/nqdq92e) where there's a choice of cafes, we'll be in Del Aziz. Meet at 10 if you want coffee - depart 10.30 LATEST Should be at the Hoggenberg by 11.45. Prep from 1200 onwards. Racing starts 1245.’
Program for the day:
12.45 - Cross Race - All Cats
13.30 - Handicapped Womans races
14.45 - Handicapped Mens races
Prize giving will held after the last race.
Sunday 7th Rd1 London CycloX League at Stanmer Park or MTB with MSG at Penshurst.
Cross - In the past VC Jubilee have set a fairly decent course, large parts are wide and flowing with a steady drag, interspersed with some moderately technical single track through the woods. It’s generally a well organised race and worth the trip to Brighton.
This is the first race of season, it’s worth entering on line at Rider HQ if you can, it will save you hassle on the day. See website for full details.
MTB - this will be MSG’s first foray into Kent and deserves support. I’ve only ever ridden Cross at Penshurst so can’t advise on the course. See MSG’s website for full details.
Winter Mid Week Training Sessions
Most of you will be able to join either or both the DP or the BC Cluster session of road bikes on the track, starting in the 1st week of October - more details to follow.
