Large round of applause to Ed for slogging through the mud and finishing in last week’s Cross National despite a mechanical forcing the lad to wade through the the Shropshire grime for half a lap.
Good luck to both Ed and Titouan competing in the National Trophy series on Sunday in Milton Keynes.
Pat on the back to Elliot who rode a creditable race in the 3rd cat Winter Road series at Hillingdon last weekend, riding strongly in the bunch until the final sprint…….next time my friend.
Saturday 16th January Youth and Junior Road rides
NOTE NEW START TIME FOR ALL RIDES - 9.30 at the Velodrome
Juniors - Dave and I are racing (churning up the course for Titouan and Ed) at Milton Keynes on Saturday, so we not be leading a Junior Road ride. I suggest Juniors join the most suitable group on the normal Saturday ride, remembering of course that these rides leave the velodrome at 9 am.
Youths - Mark will be leading an off road ride heading out towards Frylands Woods to link up with Bill’s group. Suitable for Cross and MTB bikes.
Meet at the velodrome at 9.30 and the ride will finish with chips and coffee at Cafe Paradou on Crystal Palace Parade at about 1 pm.
Please bear in mind that it is now the middle of winter and it may be cold and possibly even wet this weekend - please wear suitable clothing and do an extra check on your bike, We don’t really want to be hanging around in the cold while you try and readjust your brakes with frozen malfunctioning hands.
These rides will be part on the road so normal pack drill:
Helmets must be worn
BC HHYCC and/or DP Membership required
Bring spare inner tubes that fit your bike
Wear suitable clothing for the weather
Money for emergency buns
Food and water
The name and telephone number of an adult who can rescue you on a PIECE OF PAPER in your back pocket.
Parents and Guardians should be contactable during the ride and able to collect their charge should the need arise.
Wednesday 20th 7pm - Dulwich Chain - Advanced session,
Only suitable Junior who are racing and the strongest youths. Dave may be running a Cross session - check the Dulwich Forum.
Thursday evening BC Cluster sessions
These sessions run by BC continue and are suitable for all youth A and B riders and come highly recommended if you want to race this year. Meet at the velodrome at 7.15 for a 7.30 start. Remember to bring a completed parental consent form (download from the youth section on the Dulwich Forum) and the £3 levy.
Saturday 23rd - Practical session on Course setting at Hog Hill
We will be running a practical session next week on course setting and race preparation at Hog Hill. We’ll leave the velodrome at 10.30, ride to Hog Hill for the practical which will include the opportunity to test your course setting skills. Bring warm clothes & shoes with you for the practical session and lights for the return journey as we will be back in South London around 5 pm.
Sunday 24th - Rd 14 London League Hog Hill
Certainly the best event in the season and one definitely not to be missed, we will have set a fast and furious course avoiding the quagmires and bogs so I’m expecting a decent race. As the organiser I’m looking for as much help as possible on the day so those who have raced a lot this year please be prepared to help on the day.
Those that want to race in this race but do have a bike please let know in good time, we have 3 bikes we can lend out. Dulwich Youth and Junior members who help setting up the course/on the day will have their race entry fee waived.
