Dave and I did a recce on Saturday to the Milton Keynes Bowl to review the course Titouan and Ed raced on Sunday. Fair to say that after our round of races the course was pretty gruesome, loads of off camber, some tricky climbs, lots of running and a fairly interesting long descent all caked in the slippery stuff.
That they both finished is a credit, Titouan in 11th place and Ed 28th - proud of the pair of you, well done.
Saturday 23rd January Youth and Junior Road rides - Course setting at Hog Hill
We will setting the course for the Cross race on Sunday at Hog Hill and you’re all very welcome to help where you’ll have the opportunity to influence the course and to try it out.
We will be meeting at Hog Hill (aka Redbridge Cycle Centre) at 12.00 - 12.30, for those that want to ride I’ll be leading a ride, leaving the velodrome at 10.30.
Ride suitable for Cross bikes, bring some warm clothing for setting the course and lights with you as we’ll be back in South London around 6 pm.
These rides will be part on the road so normal pack drill:
Helmets must be worn
BC HHYCC and/or DP Membership required
Bring spare inner tubes that fit your bike
Wear suitable clothing for the weather
Money for emergency buns
Food and water
The name and telephone number of an adult who can rescue you on a PIECE OF PAPER in your back pocket.
Parents and Guardians should be contactable during the ride and able to collect their charge should the need arise.
Sunday 24th - Rd 14 London League Hog Hill
Certainly the best event in the season and one definitely not to be missed, we will have set a fast and furious course avoiding the quagmires and bogs so I’m expecting a decent race. As the organiser I’m looking for as much help as possible on the day so those who have raced a lot this year please be prepared to help on the day.
Those volunteering and racing in Dulwich Colours will have their race fees refunded
Wednesday 27th - Dulwich Chain Gang
This week is an advance road session and only suitable for the strongest Juniors, however I’ll be running a Cross/MTB Training session open to all. Starts at 7pm at the velodrome
Thursday evening BC Cluster sessions
These sessions run by BC continue and are suitable for all youth A and B riders and come highly recommended if you want to race this year. Meet at the velodrome at 7.15 for a 7.30 start. Remember to bring a completed parental consent form (download from the youth section on the Dulwich Forum) and the £3 levy.
