Yep, I'll be there too. Looking forward to it. Any other ladies fancy joining us...? Is good a midweek training option.

Hoping the weather improves between now and then though because currently it's looking horrendous!

Anyone got a link to winter route? Got a bit perturbed by last summer one - pitch black & flooded Pole Hill in torrential rain... Might need more warmth TBH!

This is the "classic" winter chaingang route - might be a bit awry after Bromley, as I always left it there for points east... ridewithgps.com/routes/12473922

There is no longer any streetlighting on Polhill so be careful out there. You can always turn back early and wait at the roundabout for riders to come back up the hill and then rejoin. Same goes if you've struggled to hang on coming up from Badgers Mount.

Sara we won't drop you (not that we'd be able to if we wanted to) but it's a good point, it'll be cold and dark out there and I do think we need to look out for each other. If we make sure we get a little group of similar speed we can do a good Chaingang and not drop anyone...this is meant to be the chaingang that is suitable for new members so we need to make sure it is accessible.

Polhill is pretty dodgy in the dark. Its a fast descent and there are some pretty uneven surfaces so I would recommend spreading out on the way down and giving yourself the best possible chance to pick out a safe line (decent lights essential). On the way back up, the dark is generally less of an issue due to the slower speeds but it can be really disconcerting when cars approach from the opposite direction as their lights basically dazzle you and it is pretty much impossible to see anything for a few seconds after they have passed, until your eyes adjust to the almost darkness again. There may be safety in numbers going up the hill as at least you can pool all your front lights and hopefully get a bit of brightness going on! Other than Polhill, the winter route is generally pretty straightforward. Link to my ride last Wednesday - the chaingang starts Elmers End roundabout and ends at Crystal Palace at the top of Crystal Palace Park Road (I turn off Beckenham Road to go home). www.strava.com/activities/507207676
