Now the winter velodrome sessions are drawing to a close I'm looking at building on what we have achieved this winter.
There will be a weekly Off Road Chain Gang ridden in the traditional chain gang manner - ie a hard training ride following a the same route each week allowing you to measure your improvement.
It's been suggested we run this every Thursday evening - meet at Elmers End at 7 to start at 7.15 doing a 2 hour loop.
Route would be _ On road to Hayes, thereafter follow the bridleways to Snag Lane, cut down to Green St Green then tracking back to Colney Hall, Spring Woods and back to Crystal Palace. The route is suitable for both MTB and CX bikes however has sections where one has advantage riding an MTB bike over a Cross bike and vice versa.
These ride will start once the Velodrome sessions have ended and continue on until the start of the Beastway series in June.
Let me know if you are interested.

The route is not technically challenging - but will be a hard endurance training ride. That said, there are numerous cut off points along the route to allow groups to rejoin/shorten the adventure.
I'm planning to record the route tonight ( unless its pelting) and will post it up.

Attached the full route for the Chain Gang - it's doable in a couple of hours. However once the route gets to Bogey Lane it runs parallel to Shire Lane so those that want to ride at a steadier pace can opt to take shortcuts..... The route is suitable for CX and MTB bikes. I would recommend that you ensure your bike is in good nick and it would be an idea to fit tubeless tyres to avoid snake bits and other nasties. Bung the route on your phone/Garmin in case you get lost/dropped. This rides will start proper on the 9th March and run throughout the summer. Meet at 7pm at Elmers End for a 7.15 start. Brill. Slight change to the schedule above. We're gonna meet at Elmers End at 7.15 rather than 7 with the aim of leaving just after.
