No spoilers this week - the final results for the Cross League are up and pretty decent set of results all round, to find out more you’ll need to attend the awards at close of the Team Champs on Sunday.
Rides this weekend
Saturday 4th February - Youth and Junior CX Ride
It’s going to well damp later today, so we will abandon the mud for the tarmac this week and be leading a youth and Junior road ride. Suitable for those consistently racing in the Youth category in Cross and above - that’s you - Milo, Jules, Cubaihd, Joe, Olly as well as the Juniors.
Length will be about 30 miles taken at a steady pace as I’m well aware that the bulk of you will be racing tomorrow.
Meet at the velodrome at 9 to leave by 9.15 ish - we will be scoffing coffee and chips in Paradou by 1.30 pm.
It’s a road ride so normal pack drill:
HHYCC/DP and BC membership required
Bring spare inner tubes
Do a bike check prior to leaving
Wear suitable clothes for the season
Food (snacks - not 4 course lunch) and liquid
Telephone number of your parent/rescuer in your back pocket.
Note - All this should fit in pockets in your jersey - if doesn’t you’re carrying too much and you will be required to leave the excess at the Velodrome.
Sunday 5th February -London Cyclo Cross Team Champs
HHYCC Riders - Bill is in charge of forming your teams - if you are not picked yet contact him pronto
Dulwich Riders - We have formed a mixed team ‘Blue Youth’ - please send me your DOB (today) and you will be entered in. As with the senior teams race fees for DP riders are covered by Dulwich Paragon.
The Youth races starts 12.10 - you need to be at Great Walstead School by 11 am latest as sign can be a bun fight.
Dulwich riders in particular are encouraged to stay around to cheer on the 4 senior teams in the following race. These teams will need as much encouragement and support they can get.
Youth and Junior Discussion Group
A heads up - Geoff and I are planning to hijack part of the next HHYCC AGM (due sometime in March) to have an informal meeting with parents and riders who want to join the combined HHYCC/DP youth program. We want to use this meeting to encourage riders to join us and for parents to understand what we are doing and how they can help support their child/youth/young adult and the group as a whole.
Mid week training sessions
Tuesday Evening - There are still are few more of these - make full use of the opportunity.
Wednesday Evening - as above - next Wednesday is Road bike on track followed by the final CX and MTB off road session.
March Mid Week Sessions - Juniors and strong Youths
Wednesday evening - Join the Dulwich Paragon Road Chain Gang
Thursday evening - Help establish the new DP Off road Chain Gang
Saturday: Road Ride
