Do you think it would be possible to have a collection of rides that have been ridden before something for a rainy day ... so to speak

I can’t see why not. Some clubs like for instance Penge CC have a system of set routes and groups at set paces. I guess this only makes sense for a large crowd but maybe we could have something like an ride data base that is freely accessible on the forum. Maybe something for the committee to discuss or the AGM?

I can lead 3rd Dec one I have a bunch of about 15 routes I could upload to somewhere suitable that could be picked from...mostly all ridden and verified. Would be good to get a forum where we can add comments to each one so people know what to expect...i.e. fast, hard, flat etc

There are plenty online: Strava, ridewithgps, openrunner, garmin etc
The database we need is called a calendar. Dates, times, meeting points, who's in, this is what we discuss on this forum. But how do you find out what's on next Wednesday?

You will now see a *new* category on the main board called "Routes Collection". Self-explanatory, really. Post your links up and a short description with length and height gain.
I've got the ball rolling with one of my summertime faves.
Over to you ...

It would be helpful if the subjects included something about distance and maybe terrain to enable browsing if the list builds up - e.g. "100km, flattish" or "30km CX/MTB"

Sara. You are correct. The DPNC rides are now a regular Dulwich Paragon feature. The rides typically meet at CSG every Sunday at 8:45am for a 9am depart. They also set out on Wednesdays and Fridays. Same time, same meeting point. There's also an early Saturday morning ride that meets at CSG at 8:15am for an 8:30am depart. They're not too hard to find on the Dulwich Paragon website. Under the Rides section, 'DPNC'; and in the Forum section for Sportives and Addax ('Training rides for sportive cyclists'). The rides are designed for people who are training for sportives and other endurance cycling events. The pace is steady and the routes typically fall in the range 80-110kms. (The Saturday ride is a little quicker.) It’s easy to find out about DPNC rides - which is essentially an open email group hosted on Google groups that anyone can look at or, if they wish, join. Why an email group? That's what people wanted at the time it was set up. It allows last minute adjustments to be made to planned rides or, if someone punctures on the way to a ride, they can write a quick message asking people to wait at the cafe. All is here: groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/dpnc
