Mary very kindly led one of the Newbie groups this morning, and I regret to say we lost one of them. Rode a nice black Pinnacle, no helmet, seemed fine, despite a small chute on the way out on Elmers End Road. Suddenly lost all momentum on Layhams, and said he would wait for the next group, he was still going forward, so I rode on to advise Mary, then turned round and rode back to find him/ the next group. But I couldn’t find him, despite riding the whole way back to Herne Hill. I didn’t see any ambulances or anything else untoward, so I assume that he made it home!
I don’t suppose there were any sightings?
Cheers
John

I met this gentleman on Saturday morning whilst organising the newbies and DP riders into their groups. He wasn't wearing a helmet, and was very strident about it; "No, I do not need a helmet" was his response to me and again to Gary.
It sounds like he may not be one for us, perhaps.
