Hi all,
With current Covid restrictions not allowing our groups of six high risk Londoners to sit inside a cafe together (unless we are in fact a household or bubble) - even in lower risk bits of Kent, Surrey etc.... I wondered if anyone was aware of cafes with heat lamps and gazebos etc? This could be valuable info if we want to venture out on longer / colder / rainier / more sociable rides this winter!
Thanks in advance, Sara

When I looked in at Velo Barn on Saturday Mark there said they are planning on putting out patio heaters at their place.

If you're heading west, the Cinnamon Cafe in Windsor with its famous buns has heaters outside.

Makes me slightly sad if these heaters will become more popular again, it was becoming accepted that they are an environmental disaster. The reality is that each heater can kick out the equivalent emissions of a speeding truck but, unlike with vehicles, there is nothing filtering or reducing their polluting gases.

Green-electricity-powered radiant heaters and/or gazebo covering much preferred... but not seeing many options yet...!

I mean if I was Paul Hollywood (OK, let's face it, Prue Leith) judging the technical challenge, then perhaps I might find fault with them. But after 2+ hours' ride to get there, I find that I can inhale one of them with reasonable pleasure.

Any insufficiences in the buns is more than compensated by the warmth of the welcome there. And there is sort of outdoor space in the old station at the rear. I don't know if it's Covid-compliant but it's certainly nicely sheltered. See also - the Winter Gardens / Sun Lounge, Herne Bay.
