Lockdown 2.0 in full swing, and what better thing to do than up or hours on the turbo/out on the road? Well it can lead to some pretty dangerous places...
This is a great podcast from Colby Pearce (who I have no connection with) that sets out very clearly how badly things can go wrong when we ignore our bodies:
My guess is that anyone who is in such an extreme place as those featured on the show is unlikely to heed this warning (I've done something similar a long time ago and I'm fairly sure I wouldn't have), but perhaps all of us can just keep an eye on our fellow club members (or any other cyclists we know) and keep this in mind. It's a pretty big club and given the prevalence of this it's quite possible one of us knows someone who is in this place. As to what to do for them I don't pretend to have all the answers, but I guess ultimately we must try and persuade them to seek professional help - I guess a coach could help, but more likely support from a mental health professional is required.
Just putting this out there because I've been there and if it's possible for one person fewer to suffer then that would be a good outcome.
