I thought I should warn you all, as I had not heard of this one until it happened to me last night, thankfully I am fine and it was my 'winter hack' bike which was taken.
I've reported all this to the police and they will be looking into it, it is also a new 'trend'.
After leaving the bicycle parking near Charring Cross, I cycled down to the back streets between the stand and embankment. Two men walked in front of me, so naturally I braked and tried to avoid.
As I did one grabbed my arm and the forced me to stop. The other pulled me from the bike.
They made off quickly with the bike, I did not think it was worth trying to get it back.
I've not come across this type of bicycle theft before, and I am surprised it goes on.
On a more positive note, I didn't tell the thieves that the bike's brakes were not working properly, as I had broke the rear gear cable while trying to tighten it up.
I also have an excuse to get a new bike. (fixes look on something with armor, shielding and possibly a pedal powered tank.)

Wah! How horrible. Poor you, but glad to hear you aren't hurt. A thousand curses on the thieving scummers.

Can you claim on insurance if your bike gets nicked like that?
