Hi, I'm looking for a road cycle route for a Sunday morning spin with friends from Herne Hill. About 70-80k preferably fairly flat for a change, do i need to head west? any suggestions? thanks James

Hi James It depends what you mean by "fairly flat" really. If you want properly flat, then yes, heading west is your best option. Note that speeds will be pretty high so you can get quite a bit further this way. Here's a route to Windsor - www.strava.com/routes/21739035 - if you want something shorter you can turn back earlier, but personally I think it's a bit pointless heading in that direction but never getting to the nice bit... If flat can mean "out into Surrey or Kent but avoiding the worst ramps", you could try something like this: www.strava.com/routes/26766104But note that there is a fairly reliable rule that the flatter the route, the more cars will be using it. The steep routes are also the quiet ones...
