I'm just about to take delivery of bicycle number 4 in my armory. Does anyone know about the relative merits of stand alone bicycle insurance? They seem to be causing a massive skew on my home policy.

For some specific item that isn't included on a household contents policy have you considered simply putting a monthly amount into a savings account. That way if you don't claim you still have all the money (plus interest). Long term it can be a better option.

I've added my lapierre onto my contents insurance and it only costs £10 extra a month. It's with Nationwide building society which seem to be far cheaper than many cycle specific policies.
