Keeping my chin up and hoping for a good year's riding in 2009 I'm planning a trip to Biot, France (aprox. 20km west of Nice) for some miles on both flatter and hillier roads...
Accommodation: I'll be staying in one of two options (still negotiating!) both self-catering mobile-homes within a "campsite" - basic, but quite enough for the purpose! They sleep 4 people and go for around £185/week. (linen and towels for a small fee too)
Dates: Wednesday 11th March - Sat 4th April (depending on who else comes along I may have to reduce this a bit)
Transport: Nice airport is just down the road (pickups can be arranged for 60eu return) but I am travelling by Eurostar / TGV which is a very reasonable £110 at the moment! (I stress "at the moment")
I travelled to the Ardeche by train before and it was very relaxed...and green! (I also found a lightweight bikebag fashioned from a rain-cover is sufficient to get you past the TGV carriage-charges)
I'll probably pop a rack on my bike and ride to the campsite, though I believe there are trains from Nice to Biot too...will ask more about that closer to the time!
I'll start talking with the campsite(s) this week...so let me know if you're interested and we'll book as many spots as we need!
