Hi, I'm wondering even without the power of a pro whether your carbon fiber bike can be damage during a turbo training sesson especially due to the vibration (frame has been glued). And i confirm it's not another excuse not to train a lot..... JLuc

I've heard this rumour on and off for a while now. Some people say that manufacturers won't honour warranties for carbon frames that have been used on the turbo but I've never seen any evidence and I don't think anyone would be stupid enough to admit that's how they damaged their frame (I'd just lie).
I've not met anyone who has had a problem and I know people who have done thousands of miles on their turbo and had no issues.

there's quite a bit out there on the net already on this topic. general consensus seems to be that it's nothing to worry about, but that if you want to absolutely minimise the risk try not to do too much heavy out of the saddle sprinting.
in the very unlikely event that your frame fails and the manufacturer enquires whether or not you've used it in a turbo, you could always lie.

As I said above, I don't believe there is a problem, but that photo would be a lot more convincing if I thought those boys had to pay for their own bikes ;P

If they kept breaking their bikes on turbos, I'm sure they'd be ask to stop doing it by their team of sponsor. I think it's a convincing photo that it's ok to use carbon bikes (and in this case very expensive TT frames) on a turbo.
I suppose if you're really worried then you could use rollers to train on with you carbon bike.
I've been using my own carbon bike on a turbo for several years with no damage caused but I don't do any out of the saddle sprinting as it just feels really wrong on a turbo.

thanks for you comments. If you have been doing that, Kev, for several year without any issue so I'm confident with my half legs. Now just have to keep going....
