Hey guys
Any advice on what tyre to get just for use in club rides and training, preferably good puncture protection and good in wet and dry. I am quite tempted to get a solid, reliable tyre like the specialized armadillo but I'm sure you guys can point me a better direction.

Krylions, GP 4 Seasons, Rubino Pros, even Pro2Race and Fortezzas in 25mm - the list is endless. Take your pick or find what's cheapest. Everybody has their 'lucky' tyre which they haven't punctured on and swear by. (Check out BikeRadar.com and suchlike where this question gets asked on an almost daily basis)
Be careful though, Conti's are notoriously tight on Campag rims.

When family needs dictate I can't get out much for training (which is quite often), I use a pair of cheap Campag Ventos shod with TWO PAIRS of Spec. Armadillos. Take a worn pair of 23mm Armadillos, cut the wire beads off each tyres, and stuff the resulting carcass inside a new pair of 25mm Armadillos. Swear lots and fit them to your Ventos (or similar).
Results: - 3.5kg+ wheels that put lots of pain into any riding you do with them - no punctures ever (I've even pulled three inch nails out them, the nail goes through one tyre, but not two) - Feelings of great joy and happiness when you finally get back on your normal less-than-1kg race wheels.
