There has been a debate by email recently that I've been included in, that centres on Monday Comp - the season-long track league at Herne Hill velodrome. Here's a summary:
a) There are going to be some training / taster sessions for the 3 Monday nights that precede Monday Comp getting going: 16th, 23rd and 30th April. 6pm until dusk. If you want a loaner bike, let me know and you can get yourself down there to give track riding a try;
b) Straight after the last of these has ended (30th April) there will be the opportunity for riders to meet up with the officials who will be running Monday Comp, to chat about what sort of racing they want. A great opportunity to have your say if you want more sprinting / distance events / keirins / whatever...
c) All the riders and officials who have been debating the track league at Herne Hill agree on one thing - it needs more of a presence on the Web. We are looking for a volunteer who is able to take pics, collate results and get all this over to sites like London Cycle Sport to get the racing at Herne Hill 'on the map'. If anyone is interested, let meknow and I can point them in the right direction.
