Got Cross bike on Friday, and lost my Cross race virginity today! Only hit the deck once (on a downy-uppy which had got very muddy), and drew blood so put some effort in! Had a wonderful time, came 4th girl (out of 6, but very near last overall I think), but importantly, first girl newbie Much more fun than road racing, and got a free sausage at the end Poor technical skills mean I wasn't able to push myself as hard as I have the fitness too, but I'm sure I can fix that with some practice.

well done! Yep, practise makes perfect, and a lot of times, the secret is staying loose and relaxed, and looking where you want to go - a sure fire way of crashing is to look at the obstacle/line you want to avoid.

Exactly! Well done. Two or three more and you will see a big improvement. Worth practicing mounts/dismounts at speed. That is somewhere you can lose a lot of time.

Well done on getting through the race Mel. Glad to hear you enjoyed it - yep, I find cyclo cross is definitely more fun than the road stuff!
