A grand weekend of Cross at Herne Hill last weekend, and some pretty cool results, Haydon get rider of the week Gold Star, with some phenomenal laps times, 1st Junior and 6th overall in the senior race. It needs to be mentioned that Luke achieved his best result of the season and Max pulled in a 5th in the Youth A.
Meanwhile in Youth B Jules pulled in a 1st place, and Cubaldh achieved a decent result for his first race. Needless to say there were too many other valiant efforts from the rest of you to be individually listed here - great to see you all racing.
There is definately something in the waters in Cambridge - Will Brasington's justifiably proud father was telling me that Will came 2nd (?) in a Uni time trial and I also hear that Arnav has taken to spot of poaching, Arnav, suggest pheasant stew, jolly tasty and hides the tyre marks, Delia has the recipe.
This weekend - a bit of more off road.
Saturday morning
The tracks are so dry at the moment , it would be criminal not to go out on ride exploring Les Alps de Bromley et Woldenhang.
Thus we will be leading a joint youth and junior ride out to the countryside on MTB/CX bikes heading in the general direction of Keston/Woldingham, exact route will be decided on the day. We are cognizant that some of you will be racing on Sunday.
Open to all youth and junior riders who are racing/intend to race.
Meet at the velodrome at 9 and we will attempt to leave by 9.15, returning to Cafe Paradou around 1pm.
As this particular adventure will be part on road - normal rules apply:
HHYCC/DP and BC membership required (unless this is your first ride with us)
Bring water bottle, some food, money, inner tube that fits.
Wear suitable clothing for the weather
The number of your rescuer on a piece of paper in your back pocket.
All this should fit into the pockets in your jersey - do NOT bring a rucksack or suitcase, you’re going on local ride - not on holiday.
Parents/Guardians - please ensure that you are contactable and able to collect your charge should the need arise.
Sunday Rd 6- London League - revisit Happy Valley Brighton.
The second visit this year and I’m assured the course will be completely different from last time - we will be going down before going up. See London Cross League for details.
Mid week Evening Training
Tuesday Evening - BC Cluster Sessions
Start at 6pm and run through to 7.30 pm, this is a very well planned progressive series of ROAD bike training sessions on the track. Open to any rider aged 12 and above who is racing or has aspirations to so. I cannot recommend these session highly enough - there is a totally proven correlation between attending these sessions regularly and improved riding skill, race results and overall fitness.
As these are British Cycling organised sessions you will need a parents consent form for the first session you attend (attached) and a fee - which I believe is £3 a time - take a fiver to be sure.
Wednesday Evening 19th Oct - Dulwich Paragon Chain Gangs on Track
It’s a Advanced Road session this week coached by Paul Mills - which means there will be a mud/CX session as well. Starts at 7pm.
Sunday 6th November - Rd 7 London League Addington or Gorrick MTB
I understand there is a slight chance that Addington may not happen - keep an eye on the website. Worst case, there is a Gorrick MTB on the same day.
Calendar for this week:
