On Sunday we were back to Brighton for the fourth and final this season, back to East Brighton Park for the second time, and back to a rail replacement service once again which may have limited DP turnout. Despite heavy rain in Brighton on Saturday and as we drove out of London on Sunday, the day was fine and (most of) the ground had been dried out by the stiff wind. The course was a different layout to a few weeks ago but still making copious use of the steep ramps and drop-offs between the terraces on the hillside rising out of the park. Most of these were ride-able if you had the skill and the nerve (so not me) but it was not a course for the faint-hearted. There was one slippery, muddy uphill drag but the pay-off for all the hard work was a superb flowing descent into a tail-wind-fueled home straight. There was a far bit of carnage on the biggest ramp of the day with most of us older, arthritic types stuggling to get up it on foot while the sickeningly good riders in all categories hit it hard and freewheeled up effortlessly. Liam Yates (son of Sean) was even doing jumps and tail-whips over the top - encouraged by a band of youthful hecklers who had got hold of a megaphone We had quite a few technical mishaps between us, meaning that in the V40s Dax had to pull out on the second lap, and Dylan on the 6th lap when he was going really well in 6th place. Similarly Delila had to drop out of the Women's race after 1 lap - but Olivia took 7th overall, 2nd senior and Sara was 9th overall, 5th V40. In the V50s Andy was 16th, Mark, Nick and I all finished at least and Mark would like it on record that he beat someone. For the sprightly youngsters in the senior men's race Stuart, Alex and Sam were all in top 20 with Aidan not far behind mid-table.
